Sharing your card: QR code, link, offline and AirDrop

All the ways to share your HeyDrop card in person and remotely, including offline sharing without internet.

In person: QR code

Open the Cards tab and let the other person scan the QR code with their phone camera. Or tap Share Card for a bigger QR code: "Have someone point their camera at this QR code to receive your card". They don't need the HeyDrop app; your card opens in their browser.

Faster options:

  • Apple Wallet: double-click the side button, or open Wallet, and show your HeyDrop pass. See "Apple Wallet card".

  • Lock Screen QR: your QR code on the Lock Screen, no unlocking needed. See "Lock Screen QR code".

No internet? Share offline

In Share Card, turn on No Internet? Share Card Offline. The QR code then contains your contact details directly, so the other person's phone opens a contact card without needing internet (your photo isn't included). The main button changes to Share Direct Contact, which sends a contact file.

Remotely: link

Tap Share Card, then:

  • Share: the iPhone share sheet (AirDrop, Messages, WhatsApp, Mail, LinkedIn and more).

  • Copy link: copies your card link ("Copied!") to paste anywhere.

  • Text your card or Email your card: opens a new message with your link.

  • Send another way: the share sheet again.

  • Open in browser: see your card as others see it.

WhatsApp, Messenger and LinkedIn rows appear only if those apps are installed. Your custom link is used if you have one.

More options in Share Card and Settings

  • Add to Apple Wallet / Update in Apple Wallet

  • Pin QR to Lock Screen / Remove QR from Lock Screen

  • Save QR to photos: saves your QR code image to your Photos, for email signatures, slides or print.

What the other person sees

Your card opens as a web page with your photo, details and buttons. Tapping Save contact adds you to their phone contacts. If you use Collect contacts first or Exchange contacts, they can send you their details too, and they appear in your Contacts tab.

NFC and tapping phones

HeyDrop doesn't share by tapping phones together. Use the QR code, Apple Wallet or Lock Screen QR. For tap-to-share you can order a physical NFC metal card: Settings → Order physical NFC metal cards.

Email signature

Use Save QR to photos, or copy your card link, then add the QR image linked to your card URL in your email app's signature settings.
